Position: Cataloging Librarian

Position Description: Minot State University seeks an energetic, innovative service-oriented individual for the position of Cataloging Librarian. Library and Information Science professionals who are interested in providing cataloging in a wide variety of formats including but not limited to monographs, serials, e-resources and other items are encouraged to apply. Supervise a person in a clerical position, assigning work and checking for accuracy. Additional duties include regularly scheduled hours at the reference desk and some collection development responsibilities. This position reports directly to the Library Director.

Selection Criteria: A Masterís degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program; strong commitment to quality cataloging; experience in print and electronic resource cataloging; demonstrated working knowledge of cataloging rules, and tools such as MARC, AACR2, LCSH, LCC, and familiarity with RDA and authority control; experience with OCLC Bibliographic Utility/Connexion interface and ILS systems (preference ExLibris Aleph); familiarity with cataloging issues and standards, metadata standards, best practices, emerging trends in the cataloging field; demonstrated commitment to diversity and ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds; and proven supervisory experience. Must demonstrate the ability to deal effectively and interact positively with various types of people. A criminal history background check must be satisfied prior to employment.

Position: Custodian

Position Description: Cleans, renovates and renews floor surface finishes and operates related equipment. Cleans and dusts furniture, fixtures and related furnishings. Collects and removes waste paper and other debris. Provides sanitary conditions in washrooms, and washes windows, walls and woodwork. Makes minor repairs to buildings and equipment. Moves furniture, supplies, and equipment. Cleans walks, shovels snow, and generally assists in keeping outside areas in a clean and orderly condition. Opens and secures buildings and classrooms on a predetermined schedule. Duties are currently performed in the residence halls.

Selection Criteria: Must be able to perform a variety of custodial and manual tasks and have considerable knowledge of the methods, equipment and supplies used in the cleaning and upkeep of facilities. Requires the equivalent of successful completion of high school, and one year of custodial or facility maintenance experience including performing tasks such as vacuuming carpets, sweeping and mopping floors, sanitizing rest rooms and fixtures, and removing snow from sidewalks. Position: Major Gifts/Development Officer

Position Description: Professional fund-raising position that will help ensure the university's financial viability through increased and new revenue sources. Fundraising efforts will focus on major gifts fundraising ($10,000 or more) through the organization and implementation of a comprehensive development program and capital campaign raising private gifts to Minot State University and the Minot State University Development Foundation.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the mission of Minot State University with the ability to communicate the institution's needs and priorities - both internally and externally.
  2. Establish and nurture effective, collegial working relationship with advancement office coworkers, university partners and donors.
  3. Direct programs for prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for prospective and present major gift donors to Minot State University, working with university administrators, faculty, professional staff, deans, department heads and volunteer leaders
  4. Utilize Raiser's Edge prospect management system to provide information systems support to the prospect management system, including generating weekly and monthly reports on assignments, work accomplished and work to be accomplished.
  5. Meet with all prospects on a timely basis.
  6. Work with Donor Relations Officer in a program of communication with donors which recognizes past and current commitments and fosters support for future efforts.
  7. Develop an understanding of the Minot State University Development Foundation programs, policies and objectives.
  8. Participate in many university activities and maintain a visible presence at events.
  9. Travel as directed to meet with prospects which could include travel throughout the United States and Canada.
  10. Perform other work related duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with preference given to a Minot State University graduate. Preference for experience in a university setting or significant experience in sales or marketing. Keen knowledge of Minot State University and the history of the university. Outstanding communication skills and the ability to effectively and personably interact with diverse groups and individuals.

Position: Athletic Facilities Worker

Position Description: This position will be responsible for preparing and maintaining Minot State University Athletic Facilities for university related and public events. Duties include custodial services, general building maintenance, the setup and teardown of tables, chairs, athletic equipment, other associated equipment, and other assigned task. Duties also include the preparation and maintaining the athletic fields and the exteriors areas of the athletic facilities (building maintenance, mowing, shoveling snow, disposing of waste, etc.) Shifts are 6:00am - 2:30pm and 2:30pm - 11:00pm with adjustment in response to the schedule of the facilities events.

Selection Criteria: Requires the equivalent of successful completion of high school and one year of custodial/facility maintenance experience including tasks such as landscaping and grounds maintenance; or three years of custodial or facility maintenance experience. Must have the ability to perform semiskilled maintenance and repair work. Knowledge of the practice/procedures used in facility maintenance is required. Must be physically able to perform a variety of manual tasks and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively with the general public. A criminal history background check must be satisfied prior to employment.
