Salary: Minimum Annual Salary: $37,381 (based on 17.97 per hour) plus benefits (Benefits include health insurance w/premiums paid, employer-funded retirement plan, & paid annual and sick leave)
Position Description: MSU is seeking to hire a campus security officer. Reporting to the Director of Security and Safety, this position is responsible for maintaining campus security and safety. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Working with local law enforcement agencies and having appropriate authority to enforce local, state, and federal laws
- Investigate crimes and safety issues
- Provide security escort for employees, students, and guest when requested.
- Provide training for employees to maintain a safe and secure work and educational environment
- Enforce campus parking regulations
- Assist in locking up campus buildings
The officer will be trained and certified as a Clery Act Campus Security Authority and Title IX Responsible Employee. Work shifts will include evenings, nights, and weekends.
Selection Criteria: Requires a high school diploma or GED. Requires certification by the ND Peace Officers Standards and Training Board or the ability to be licensed in North Dakota within 12 months. Must demonstrate knowledge of safety and security. Must have knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations required for statistical record-keeping and reporting. Must be a competent user of personal computers and application software. Requires excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Must demonstrate the ability to deal effectively and interact positively with various types of people. Must be able to operate standard office equipment (copier, telephone, fax, etc.) Must have a valid driverís license. A criminal history background check must be satisfied prior to employment.
