Position: Tutoring & Mentoring Coordinator

Position Description: This position serves as an integral team member dedicated to student success. Successful candidate will serve as coordinator of tutoring and mentoring programs within the POWER office and serve as an advisor for approximately 50 students regarding course selection, degree requirements, and financial aid options. The coordinator will meet regularly with program participants, recruit and hire tutors, and complete necessary follow up to ensure compliance and work toward achieving set goals in retention, academic performance, and student graduation. Also serves as liaison between department advisors and student service offices.

Selection Criteria: Position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; prefer a Master’s degree in Counseling or related field. Must have at least two years of work experience in higher education and experience in student assessment relative to academic achievement. Must have experience working with students at academic risk, low-income students, students from diverse cultural backgrounds, or students with disabilities. Must have knowledge and experience in the use of personal computers and application software (word processing, spreadsheets, database management). Requires excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, group leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively and interact positively with a variety of people.

Position: Senior Financial Aid Counselor & Data Analyst

Position Description: This position provides direct assistance to students, parents, and professional staff for the efficient and effective operation of the Financial Aid Office; maintains compliance with federal, state, and university policies and regulations governing eligibility and disbursement of educational financial aid, assists the Director in coordinating and implementing the functions of the department, including producing data in response to internal and external requests. Specific duties include: (1) counsel and assist students, parents, and the general public on financial aid matters in individual or group settings; (2) manage Federal Perkins and Nursing Loan programs (3) supervise the administration of the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program; (4) assist director with NCAA compliance; (5) query writing and reports for data analysis; (6) oversee ND State Grant Program, (7) organize and present at public events such as Orientation and Financial Aid Nights, and (7) other related duties.

Selection Criteria: Requires a bachelor’s degree related to accounting, business, or management information systems. Requires experience with student financial aid in a university setting. Must be familiar with PeopleSoft database management system. Must be a competent user of personal computers and application software including word processing and spreadsheets. Prefer experience with MS-Word and MS-Excel spreadsheets. Requires excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Position Description: This position recruits students throughout North Dakota and other designated geographic regions in the US and Canada and maintains relationships with key personnel at high schools and colleges. Will receive and answer inquiries from prospective students, families, high schools and college administrators regarding admission requirements/procedures, costs, financial aid and program requirements. Prepare promotional literature and information for use during Career Day programs, campus tours, high school and college visits and various public relation activities. Will assist in coordinating registration and admission for new students. Will participate in developmental and university data collection and planning activities to support MSU enrollment.

Selection Criteria: Requires a bachelor's degree and one year of college recruitment or other similar experience (for example, leadership of a student organization.) Requires someone with the ability to relate to students, families, faculty and staff. Requires considerable knowledge of the university's offerings and their relationship to career opportunities. Must have knowledge and experience in the use of personal computers and application software (word processing, data base management). PeopleSoft experience a plus. Must be sensitive to diverse cultural backgrounds and have a working knowledge of campus life and activities. Prefer someone with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with various types of people. Requires a valid driver's license and a willingness to travel.

Position Description: This position will be responsible for preparing and maintaining Minot State University Athletic Facilities for university related and public events. Duties include custodial services, general building maintenance, the setup and teardown of tables, chairs, athletic equipment, other associated equipment, and other assigned task. Duties also include the preparation and maintaining the athletic fields and the exteriors areas of the athletic facilities (building maintenance, mowing, shoveling snow, disposing of waste, etc.) Shifts are 6:00am - 2:30pm and 2:30pm - 11:00pm with adjustment in response to the schedule of the facilities events.

Selection Criteria: Requires the equivalent of successful completion of high school and one year of custodial/facility maintenance experience including tasks such as landscaping and grounds maintenance; or three years of custodial or facility maintenance experience. Must have the ability to perform semiskilled maintenance and repair work. Knowledge of the practice/procedures used in facility maintenance is required. Must be physically able to perform a variety of manual tasks and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively with the general public.
