Summer 2013 Financial Aid Information
- A MSU Summer Financial Aid Application AND a 2012-13 FAFSA are required for financial aid eligibility to be determined for the 2013 Summer Term. If you have not completed a 2012-13 FASFA or have not listed the MSU School Code (002994) on your 2012-13 FAFSA, you may do so at www.fafsa.gov.
- You must be fully admitted as a degree-seeking student before financial aid will be disbursed. Be sure that all required admission documents, including an official transcript from all colleges previously attended, have been submitted to MSU before the beginning of summer classes. Non-degree seeking students are ineligible for Federal Student Aid programs, but may consider non-federal alternative loan programs.
- Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits in order to be eligible for Federal Direct, Perkins, or Nursing Loans. Register for all of your summer classes as soon as possible. Notify us if your enrollment plans change after you submit your summer application.
- Enrollment status for Federal Pell Grant purposes will be determined based on student enrollment at midnight on Saturday, June1. Classes added after that time will not be considered in determining Federal Pell Grant eligibility. REGISTER FOR ALL SUMMER CLASSES by June 1. Courses dropped before their start date may result in the repayment of financial aid received.
- Summer awards are based on the assumption that you will successfully complete all of your spring courses. If you fail to complete some of your spring courses, it may change your summer eligibility. If that happens, you will receive an email informing you of a revision to your summer aid package.
- Students must meet the Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy at the end of spring 2013 to be eligible for financial aid for summer 2013.
- Summer tuition and fees are due June 5. Charges will be visible online on Campus Connection beginning in mid-May. You will not receive a paper bill. To view your charges log on to Campus Connection > Student Center > Account Summary.
- If your summer plans change after you have registered for summer classes and you choose not to attend summer term, complete the MSU Withdrawal Form.
- Summer award notices will be issued by email within 2-4 weeks after your summer application is submitted and AFTER your summer registration is complete. Be sure to check your MSU email account regularly for notice of your award being posted and for changes.
Pell Grant - If you received a full time Pell Grant for fall 2012 AND spring 2013, you will not have any remaining Pell Grant eligibility for summer 2013. In most cases, if you did NOT receive a full time Pell Grant for fall 2012 AND spring 2013, you will be eligible for a summer Pell Grant, even if you are enrolled in less than 6 credit hours.
Federal Direct Loans - If you borrowed the maximum Direct Loan available for your grade level and dependency status, you will not be eligible for any additional Direct Loan for the summer. If your grade level changes after your spring grades are posted, you may be eligible for additional Direct Loan funding for summer at that time. Students must be registered for all of their summer courses before submitting the summer aid application.
The summer application will be available when registration begins on March 18, 2013.
