Great Plains Scholarships for New Freshmen and Transfer Students

We offer numerous scholarships for first-year, transfer and returning students. Our competitive academic scholarships are noted below.

MSU Scholarship Opportunities
Scholarship Application Required for Admitted Students

You may be eligible for MSU scholarships, both academic and need based, offered through the financial aid office to new and returning students. Application deadline for MSU Scholarships is February 15. Apply every academic year by the deadline. FAFSA results are used to determine eligibility for need based scholarships.

Cultural Diversity Award
Scholarship Application Required for Admitted Students

You may qualify for this financial award if you are:

  • American Indian or Alaskan Native
  • Asian American
  • Black or African American
  • Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander
  • Hispanic/Latino
  • Multiracial/Multiethnic

Eligible applicants must have a high school GPA of 2.25 or higher.

Applicants must submit a completed MSU Scholarship and Award Program application by the February 15 deadline to be considered.

Freshman Awards

Great Plains Exceptional Scholar Award (4-Year Award)
Full tuition for four consecutive years*

 H.S. GPA: 3.65-4.0
PLUS
ACT: 30-36 or SAT: 1390-1600

Distinctive and Engaged Scholar Award (One-Time Award)

Transfer Student Scholar Award
A student must have a minimum of 24 and no more than 70 transferable semester hours earned credit to be eligible. The award is one-time, non-renewable. Additional scholarships may be available. Applicants must submit a completed MSU Scholarship and Award Program application by the February 15 deadline to be considered.

GPA: 3.5-4.0 $1,500
GPA: 3.0-3.49 $1,000

2016-2017 MSU Recruit Back Program
Have you considered returning to MSU? Are you ready to finish your degree? Minot State University understands life happens. We'd like to invite you to participate in the 2016-17 Recruit Back Program which allows you the opportunity to work closely with an academic advisor in developing plan to complete your original – or new – degree.

Criteria for Fall 2016
You must be eligible for re-admission to Minot State University.
You must be degree-seeking towards your first degree.
You must re-apply by June 30 and enroll for Fall 2016 classes by August 5 to be considered for a scholarship.

Additional Scholarships
Minot State has many scholarships available to students made possible by donors. These are awarded based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community involvement, leadership, service and legacy.
