Renowned speaker Arel Moodie 1 - 2 p.m - Ann Nicole Nelson Hall
Arel Moodie is one of the leading voices on helping young students get to and get through college. According to BusinessWeek, Moodie "teaches young people that anything is possible." Inc. Magazine called Moodie a "High-Energy, Motivator" and placed him on its prestigious "30 Under 30" list, naming him one of the country's top young entrepreneurs, joining people like Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook. Essence Magazine said "Arel Moodie should be the poster boy for rags-toriches stories...He is America's Top Young Speaker." Moodie's presentation will assist young men and women as they plan and take accountability for their futures.

Morning session: 9 a.m. / Afternoon session: Noon Learn the ins and outs of being successful at college. Information will include the importance of planning (academics and financial), successfully engaging in campus activities, dealing with roommates, using your support network, and more. Presented by Kevin Harmon, assistant vice president for Enrollment Management.

Morning session: 9:30 a.m. / Afternoon session: 12:30 p.m.
Unsure of what you want to do? Learn more about possible majors and the potential employment needs in our region. Presented by Lynda Bertsch, director for Student Success and Career Placement.

Guided tour of Minot State University - Morning session: 10 a.m. / Afternoon session: 1 p.m.

  • Are You Ready to Write in College? Find out with a simulated lecture and writing assignment. Participants will gain valuable face-to-face feedback from MSU instructor, Nicole Thom-Arens. Face-to-face writing assessments by appointment through pre-registration only; written assignments due by Oct. 16. Go to for lecture and assignment.
  • Attend College or Not? Are you confused and unsure if you should go to college? These private, consultative sessions are designed for families and students who are unsure if college is the right choice. Presented by Minot State University staff.
  • Admissions appointments. Meet with MSU faculty about specific majors.

Lunch provided in the Beaver Creek Cafe at Noon.
