Dr. Winburn received his B.S. Degree in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire in 1991. From there he went to the University of North Dakota where he received his M.S. Degree in Theoretical Chemistry in 1995. After teaching at the University of Minnesota -- Crookston for a quarter he went back to school at North Dakota State University and received his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry in 1999. Dr. Winburn joined the faculty at Minot State in August of 1999 and has taught both general and advanced courses in chemistry. Dr. Winburn in a member of the American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi. Dr. Winburn currently runs an active research group with four students and has received a contract for collaborative work with scientists at the National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST, formerly NBS) on the certification of X-Ray diffraction standards for crystallinity.
