MSU String Ensemble

The MSU String Ensemble will perform a spring concert. This concert will feature faculty members Dianna Anderson, harpsichord; Elizabeth Demme, flute; and Jon Rumney, violin; as soloists performing J. S. Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto No. 5."

"The Bach is a monumental piece. Because the harpsichord part is so extensive, it could be described as the earliest concerto for keyboard. The students interact with the soloists, and it makes for chamber music playing on a larger scale, rather than in small groups like a string quartet," Rumney said.

The ensemble will also perform works by two American composers, Charles Ives' "The Unanswered Question" and Steve Reich's "Clapping Music." MSU students Sam Buchholz and Rae-Mae Owens will conduct the Ives piece.

Parking on campus is unrestricted after 4:30 p.m.

Location: Ann Nicole Nelson Hall, Old Main
