Voice Student's Music Recital

MSU voice students will present their fall recital Sunday, Oct. 20. The event is in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall and begins at 3 p.m.

Each semester, voice students present a thematic recital which, this year, numbers approximately 30 singers. This recital serves as an academic project where the students learn literature by singing solos and duets and by sharing the numbers with the community and their classmates. It is organized and coordinated by DeVera Bowles, associate music professor. Singers from the studios of Lukas Graf, assistant music professor, and Ken Bowles, division chair, will also participate.

"This semester we will be singing music from the English Baroque period - primarily songs and duets by Thomas Arne, John Blow, Henry Purcell and George Frideric Handel," Ken Bowles said. "These composers dominated British composition from approximately 1625 to 1759."

The concert will be sung in English and is part of the regular free concerts sponsored by the Division of Music. The public is invited to attend, and parking on MSU campus is unrestricted for this performance.
