Faculty Music Recital
(Music)
Dr. Erik, associate music professor, and Dr. Dianna Anderson, instructor, will present a recital of works for cello and piano. The program will take a journey in the first half from the energetic youthfulness of Ludwig van Beethoven's Twelve Variations on a Theme from Handel's "Judas Macabeus," to serene maturity in his Sonata in C Major, Op. 102, No. 1. The second half will feature the intriguing rhythms and decadent harmony of Spanish composer Manuel de Falla's Suite Populaire Espagnole, and Samuel Barber's Sonata, Op. 6, a lush neo-romantic work brimming with passionate melodies.
A freewill donation will be taken to benefit need-based scholarships for students attending Dakota Chamber Music 2013.
Parking is free and open to the public on Sunday.
