Defensive Driving Course

The North Dakota State Fleet Services requires "those who operate fleet vehicles, on at least a monthly basis, to take the National Safety Council Defensive Driving Course (DDC) as soon as practical after accepting employment and every four years thereafter."

The Office of Facilities Management coordinated with the ND DOT to provide four sessions in the Hoffman Auditorium, Cyril Moore Hall. The first two sessions are Aug. 13 from 8 a.m. to noon, or 12:30-4:30 p.m., and the second set of sessions is Oct. 16 from 8 a.m. to noon or 12:30-4:30 p.m. Facilities management is establishing a database of employees who have completed the DDC, which will be required in the future to check out a car. It is also worth noting that many insurance companies discount personal car insurance for those who have taken the DDC.

Individuals will be required to attend the entire class to obtain certification. It will also be necessary to check in and out before and after class with a facilities management employee. Please preregister by contacting Preregistration is necessary to ensure the correct number of books and supplies.
