NAC Lecture: 'Prairie Silence'

Minneapolis writer and North Dakota native Melanie Hoffert will read from and discuss her newly published book, "Prairie Silence: A Rural Expatriate's Journey to Reconcile Love, Home, and Faith," at the Northwest Art Center Lecture Series Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Aleshire Theater, Minot State University.

A review in Booklist describes "Prairie Silence" as "a heartfelt coming-out story as well as an eloquent elegy to a rural way of life that is rapidly vanishing from the American landscape."

The event is free and open to the public, and parking is unrestricted. An informal reception will follow the program.

This project is supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Location: Aleshire Theater, Hartnett Hall
