Tax Credits & 1098-T Tax Online Consent Form
Hope or Lifelong Learning Credits Minot State University will be providing information for students that is required by the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 (TRA97). Form 1098-T must be sent to students no later than February 1.
For more information whether you may be eligible for either the Hope or Lifelong Learning Credit, please contact the IRS web site (www.irs.gov/individuals) or by calling the IRS at 1-800-TAX-FORM (1-800-829-1040). There is also a brochure available on NACUBO's web site , (www.nacubo.org), entitled "New Tax and Savings Options for Education", which summarizes the tax credits and other tax information related to college tuition.
Grant Consent for the Electronic 1098T
Minot State University is excited to provide you the opportunity to help us "GO GREEN!" In January (not as far off as you’d think!), the Business Office will be providing your 2010 1098-T tax form. You can elect to receive this form electronically rather than having it printed and mailed to your address. The deadline for granting consent for the electronic 1098T is December 31. To do this, simply follow these easy steps:
- Log into Campus Connection
- Select Campus Finances
- Select View 1098-T
- Click the Grant Consent button
- Read the 1098-T Consent Agreement and check the agreement box
- Click the Submit button
Current and former students will have the ability to view and print copies of their 1098-T tax forms online. Tax information for 2009 and prior years back through 2006 will be available online.
If you prefer to receive a mailed paper copy, please ensure that your HOME address as listed in Campus Connection is accurate by going to Student Center > Personal Information Bar. Look for the contact information box and update your home address using the edit button.
