The Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degree in Applied Business Information Technology at MSU is for students holding an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree wishing to enhance their knowledge and skills to supervisory or management level in their current profession.

Applied Business Information Technology

Students in the B.A.S. program in Applied Business Information Technology engage in learning opportunities focused on developing technical competence, global perspective, communication skills, and professional and human relationship skills.

Course work emphasizes situational analysis, critical thinking, creativity, and application as such skills are applied in a reflective decision making process. Courses are built around the ARK model, whereby students practice decision-making through Action, Reflection, and Knowledge.

Program Delivery
The B.A.S. in Applied Business Information Technology is offered on campus as well as online.

BAS-ABIT admission standards

  • Students must have an AAS to be accepted into this program
  • Student must complete General Education requirements at MSU or another institution
  • There are special exceptions to MSU policy that apply only to North Dakota residents, who need only 42 credits from MSU to complete the degree
  • If a student has completed his/her AAS out of state, all regular MSU policies apply (meet MSU General Education requirements, 60 credits at 4-year institution and at least 30 credits from MSU)
  • A minimum cumulative total of 128 credits is required to graduate

College of Business
The College of Business is committed to active learning and preparing students for careers in business. Our facilities include the Slaaten Learning Center, which features a:

  • Financial trading lab with stock ticker board
  • Corporate-style board room with video-conferencing equipment
  • Student study area furnished with computers, flat-screen TVs, café tables and comfortable seating
  • Meeting room for student organizations and other student groups
