Professor Lorraine Willoughby started her teaching career at MSU filling in a part-time (1987) position and has since moved into a tenure track (1989) position. Dr. Willoughby was the 2002 recipient of the MSU Board of Regents Faculty Achievement award and the 2002 CASE US Professor of the Year for ND. Dr. Willoughby teaches undergraduate and graduate Management Information Systems courses on campus and online. Currently Dr. Willoughby is the Program Director for the Master of Science in Information Systems and Master of Education – Business Education. She believes students learn best by applying concepts learned in class to real-world projects. For this to happen, she continues to collaborate with many local and statewide businesses.
Dr. Willoughby has served as chair on several college and campus wide committees. Her professional affiliations include: International Association for Computers Information Systems, Association for Computing Machinery, Pi Omega, and Delta Pi Epsilon.
Research Interests: Teaching methodology (hands-on, instructor lead, etc.) and delivery (face-to-face, online, blend of the two) methods as applied to IT courses, mobile technologies, and collaborative tools.
