Broadcasting Program

Public Relations/Advertising Option

The Broadcasting Department is home to a premier PR and Advertising program that has helped propel the careers of many graduates, both within and outside of North Dakota. Our curriculum provides a strong foundation of historic PR principles that are blended with cutting-edge technology and marketing strategies.

Students will receive hands-on training that extends from press releases to podcasts and takes place within and outside of the classroom. Courses in this division allow you to gain experience in the following areas:

  • Advertising - Work behind the scenes to create award winning digital and print media products for a variety of media outlets. Examine precisely what sells and how, and gain experience creating a wide-range of products.
  • Promotions - Work with professors and students to develop media kits, press releases, public service announcements and much more.
  • Campaign Strategies - Learn how to plan, complete, and evaluate a PR campaign by employing well-established yet innovative methods. Learn how to tailor campaigns to specific audiences across local, national, and international regions of the world.
  • Special Events - Plan special events on and off campus from start to finish, and combine your knowledge and experience of other areas (e.g., Promotions) to further advance your events.
  • Networking - Develop meaningful relationships with community organizations and representatives that will enable you to succeed as both a student and a professional.
