History
The KMSU Auction is a way for Minot State Broadcasting students to apply their studies of broadcast production, public relations, and advertising.
The KMSU Auction was first designed to raise funds for the broadcasting department and was to run only one year. The idea was for students to go into the community, talk with area businesses, and ask for donated goods or services. These donated items would then be auctioned live from the broadcasting studio on the Minot State University campus. To the amazement of the department, the auction was a huge success.
Due to the positive feedback from the community and the excitement of students in the department, the success has elevated each year.
Last year more than 160 businesses helped to raise more than $15,000 for the auction. These funds brought in money to aid the MSU Broadcasting Department, as well as 10% of the proceeds being donated to Kala Wagness, a Minot State student battle a disease. This year's goal is to raise funds for Departmental Equipment, Media Ink (the MSU broadcasting club), and MSU Broadcasting Scholorships. This year we will once again be donating to a charitable cause. Ten percent of our earnings will go an ill MSU faculty member to help defray medical expenses.
“We are happy to help out and do whatever we can for the auction.” - Brad Myerchin - Cartiva of Minot
