30th annual Gala and Auction: a blowout success!
A perennial favorite for decades, the 30th annual Gala Dinner and Auction at The Grand was a record-setting event. The Gala sold out, and thanks to auctioneer Kirby Brown, raised over $70,000.
"This was one of our most successful Galas. We are grateful for the incredibly generous donations and community support," said Janna McKechnie, director of alumni relations and annual giving. "Because of community support, the Alumni Association can continue to provide scholarships to talented Minot State University students."
The event's net proceeds fund scholarships and programs sponsored by the Alumni Association. Over 30 years, the group has raised over $815,000 through its Galas. For the previous academic year, the Alumni Association received 87 applications and awarded 17 scholarships.
Successful bidders in the silent auction won an Irish dinner for eight and artwork by Walter Piehl Jr., art professor. Other signature items included Disney World passes, a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted chair, sports memorabilia and furniture.
