Puppets and "Grab and Go" Bags

To recognize those who came to the call for volunteers on 9/11, The Center of Engaged Teaching and Learning organizes volunteer opportunities for the National Days of Service. This year, with a grant provided by Montana Campus Compact, CETL was able to provide Grab and Go bags for children participating in Minot Public CLC programs. In coordination with RSVP, a puppet show explaining why we all need Grab and Go bags was performed by Minot State University students and the children were able to take home a bag with essential supplies and more information about emergency preparedness.

Project Inspiration: Addressing emergency preparedness with children is difficult. After discussing the opportunity to utilize the Kids on the Block program with RSVP, the collaboration of Minot State, RSVP, American Red Cross, and Campus Compact seemed like a perfect fit and a great way to present emergency preparedness to children in a way that is appropriate and fun.
